The “Sustainable Bucharest” exhibition highlights the awarded and nominated projects from the 2024 Bucharest Architecture Annual. The featured works explore themes of urban sustainability and architectural solutions for a more responsible and resilient city. The initiative aims to inspire reflection on how architecture can contribute to the development of a greener, more efficient Bucharest—better adapted to the needs of its communities.
The Bucharest Architecture Annual is an annual event dedicated to promoting excellence in architecture, organized by the Romanian Order of Architects – Bucharest Branch. The 2024 edition, held under the theme “Sustainable Bucharest – Towards a New Economy for Europe's Built Environment”, featured innovative projects and student competitions, all contributing to the city’s sustainable urban development.
The awards are granted by juries composed of top professionals from countries with a rich culture in contemporary architecture, including Denmark, Spain, Germany, Finland, Portugal, Belgium, and Austria.
The Romanian Order of Architects – Bucharest Branch represents over 4,500 architects in the capital. Founded in 2001, the branch promotes architectural excellence through cultural, professional, and educational initiatives focused on sustainable urban development. Through exhibitions, debates, and public initiatives, OAR Bucharest plays an active role in shaping a more sustainable and responsible urban environment.
