We go back and forth in history, time and space. This is what we humans do naturally.
Understanding this, mankind began to intelligently use the priceless forms of the past to create the future.
Mid-century modern design makes this transition happen naturally. By taking value from the past and building the future with it, some things simply become all-encompassing, Eternal. Mid-century modern was born in North America, Brazil and Europe, predominantly in Scandinavian countries. The current grew fast, integrating forms with very different aesthetic values.
Grounded in the principles of functionality, simplicity, and a connection to nature, mid-century modern designs coherently integrate with a wide range of interior styles, adapting easily to evolving preferences. The clean lines, organic shapes, and the combination of natural and innovative materials derive into an atmosphere that feels both ageless and contemporary. The shapes transcend time, and find their place in almost every type of environment or space.
The conclusion seems to come naturally: Versatility that derives from the forms is another characteristic that makes Mid-century modern design fit almost every kind of space or time.
In RDW we bring in front of you iconic design pieces like the Space Saving Ercolina Chaise Longue By Paolo Grasselli For Casprini, Italy 1980’s, the Big Mama lounge chair by Gaetano Pesce for B&B Italia, Daybed-Sofa by Paolo Piva for B&B Italia.
In a perfect harmony and blending, by placing in the most beautiful light and complementing the design, MURANO lamps become elements of the most appreciated interior design photo captures.
In Murano lamps, light comes in abstract or classic shapes that create endless combinations of transparent, crayon and alabaster colors.
Retros Gallery articulates in RDW two kinds of worlds belonging to the same Universe to answer a question:
Is it from the past or has it always belonged to the future?
The exhibition "Eternal Started Yesterday" is part of RDW Design Flags, format presented by Purcari.
