Good design is that which can be understood and used by anyone, regardless of their abilities or knowledge." – Enzo Mari

Design shapes the way we experience the world. When it is truly inclusive, it enhances the quality of life for everyone. Accessible and Inclusive: Italian Design for a Better Life is an exhibition dedicated to showcasing how Italian design embraces accessibility, innovation, and sustainability.

This exhibition presents a selection of open-source design objects created by Hackability, an Italian NPO committed to inclusive design. Hackability connects designers, makers, and people with disabilities to co-create solutions that improve everyday life. Each object on display reflects the essence of Italian design—functionality, beauty, and inclusivity—while demonstrating how design can be democratized and made accessible to all.

What makes these objects unique is their open-source nature. Available under Creative Commons licenses, they can be freely downloaded and 3D printed anywhere in the world, ensuring that accessibility is not limited by geography or cost. This approach aligns with contemporary needs for sustainable and customizable design, empowering individuals and communities to create solutions tailored to their needs.

The exhibition space itself will reflect these principles. The setting will be minimalist and sustainable, emphasizing the objects and their stories. Each piece will be accompanied by detailed information, including its purpose, the designers behind it, and instructions on how to reproduce it. The goal is to inspire visitors—whether designers, makers, or the general public— to explore new ways of making design more inclusive and impactful.

Through this exhibition, Italian design reaffirms its role as a driver of innovation, inclusivity, and social responsibility. By breaking down barriers and making high-quality design accessible to all, this initiative highlights how creativity and technology can come together to shape a better, more inclusive future.
